Winter wedding photography can be a scary prospect if you aren’t 100% confident in you training and abilities. There are a few times where I’ve known the venue to be so dark it would be impossible for me to produce the kind of light and bright photography I’m known for, but the Huntingtower Hotel in Perth represents no such problem! As you can see from the below photographs, T & W’s wedding here in early February was mostly in-doors but the hotel still offered great photographic opportunities. As the Huntingtower Hotel is local to me I’m very privileged to be there quite a few times this year and can’t wait to photograph more weddings in-doors and out in their beautiful gardens.
Wedding Photography in Perth, Scotland at the Huntingtower Hotel, Scotland
Happy New Year! I know, I’m a bit late in the day but it’s been the busiest January EVER for bookings. And they are still coming in! Thank you to all my new couples for choosing me to photograph your wedding. It’s always a great honour.
2014 hasn’t many summer dates left though I do have a lot of mid-week weddings June and July which has never happened before. Weddings are ranging from just the couple to over 230 guests. I’ve also only a few local Blairgowrie weddings, spending most dates in Perth or Pitlochry. I’m as far North as Inverness and as far South as Newcastle…. So far!
It’s going to be an exciting year for Amanda Gard Photography! Can’t wait!
I will be out of touch from now until Monday 6th Jan. All emails will be answered shortly thereafter. Those meetings scheduled for the holiday period are still in my diary! After the holidays I’ll be updating my brochure and website and getting ready for my first wedding of the year on 31st Jan.
As you may know, I only do one wedding per weekend so if you are still looking for a photographer please get in touch soon as 2014 is very nearly full.
Have a fab Christmas and a Happy New Year!! X

Fingask Castle is a beautiful family home catering for stunning weddings. It’s a venue I love. Weddings there are always really relaxed and fun affairs and the venue can be dressed entirely to suit a couple’s tastes. It’s definitely in my top 5 Perthshire Wedding Venues!
With it’s beautiful grounds and scenery I could easily spend DAYS within it’s walls taking photographs. I suspect this may be why the couple from my most recent wedding chose it? It certainly fitted in with their day perfectly.
Here’s hoping for many more weddings there!

Recently I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Falconry at a recent wedding at the beautiful Forter Castle.
If there’s anything that stops me dead in my tracks it’s a beautiful bird of prey in flight (funny for a woman who can’t bear the site of hens!). It was a hard job to remember to take photographs when all I wanted to do was watch! Not only did I get to take the photos below but I also learned a few things too :) I particularly loved the Eagle Owls gorgeous amber eyes. Boy! Are those birds made for hunting! The tiny Kestrel was beautifully agile in flight and a pleasure to watch. She also allowed me to get quite close to take her picture though I didn’t appreciate her talons on my head nor her poop on my car! Though the latter beats Seagull droppings any time!
The guests at the wedding (more on them in a later posting) thoroughly enjoyed the display and interactions with the birds and Stuart (aka Mr Falconry) was friendly and interesting. He held his audience well and I was very impressed in his depth of knowledge and patience with the questions fired at him. I have no hesitation in recommending his services on your wedding day. Unusual, excellent, informative and fun! Your guests will remember your wedding forever (and get great photos of them handling the birds too!).
It’s taken a while but I’ve finally managed to upload a selection of the Wedding Reception photographs from the celebrations at the wonderful Atholl Palace Hotel in Pitlochry. You can view the pre-wedding photographs (also at the Atholl Palace) and the ceremony photographs from Dunkeld Cathedral in an earlier post (click here to be taken to it!).
Couples and Photographers are just spoiled for choice at this gorgeous venue. No matter how your weather turns out you won’t have to worry as the inside of the hotel gives as much scope as the outside for fantastic wedding day photographs. Having photographed at most of our local venues I can honestly say there’s not many where I don’t check the weather forecast in the days leading up to the wedding! This however, is one of them.
If you are thinking of marrying here, you can’t go wrong. The only trouble you’ll have is deciding on which parts of the grounds you want your photograph taken in!
This is a slideshow – please give it a few seconds to load and the pictures will change automatically – just sit back and enjoy! (But if it doesn’t load, please do me a favour and let me know so I can go back to the ‘old’ way!)
We’d been trying to get a date arranged for T & S’s engagement shoot for ages… just couldn’t get our diaries to agree! Thankfully the date we could manage saw a fine, warm day. Ontop of Carlton Hill it was a little windy though!
I’d always wanted to go up there for photographs ever since a City wedding had arranged to go there on the wedding day only to be turned away due to the Gay Pride March. This wedding photography is eventful if nothing else!
The following photographs are my favourites and if anyone reading this would like a shoot there, I’m willing to travel! Love it!
Whilst exhibiting at the annual Atholl Palace Wedding Fair, Jake from the Alba Ceilidh Band approached me for a spur of the moment photograph of the whole group for their website.
Follow the link above to find out more details about the band I think has one of the best dance ‘callers’ around (great if you or your guests really don’t know your Gay Gordon’s from your Virginia Reel!).
Here are some photos, taken in 5 minutes ontop of the Atholl Palace’s rooftop!
